The Opportunity

Phoenix Charter Academy is seeking a School Safety Coordinator to join their team in Springfield. Reporting to the Head of School, The School Safety Coordinator will be responsible for working with school administrators and staff to develop comprehensive safety plans to ensure the campus is a safe place for scholars to learn.

Your Contribution

In addition to demonstrating the qualities of a Phoenix staff member, the School Safety Coordinator will be responsible for the following:

  • Establishing and maintaining a close partnership with school administrators and other school personnel in order to provide a safe school environment.
  • Serving as a role model to students.
  • Deterring misconduct through prevention and intervention.
  • Assisting the school administration when others commit acts of violence or other crimes.
  • Serving as the liaison between the police department and the school.
  • Assisting staff with classroom activities involving instruction on various criminal justice/ crisis issues.
  • Assisting with security, safety and crisis planning of schools and their grounds.
  • Creating a safe environment conducive to learning.
  • Providing teacher and staff training.
  • Acting as a resource to adult supporters.
  • Providing alcohol and other drug resistance education and prevention.
  • Providing career counseling to students interested in the law enforcement field.
  • Assisting in making appropriate referrals to service agencies, etc. when necessary.
  • Being visible, proactive, available and professional within the school community.
