Job Description

 

We are looking for a reliable and responsible campus facilities coordinator/custodian to maintain and protect our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects the level of respect for the occupants, and so we must provide a clean, hygienic, welcoming facility for our scholars every day. It is important for a campus facilities coordinator/custodian to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises, as well as preventing pest infestation and vandalism.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodial role focused on building upkeep and general maintenance. They will have the physical endurance necessary to cover a large space daily, a keen eye for detail, and the persistence needed to complete whatever task is at-hand.

 

Specific Responsibilities

 

Basic Duties include:

  • Perform a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks, such as sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning restrooms, polishing and waxing furniture, polishing and waxing floors, and cleaning common areas (ensure space is prepared for the next school day)
  • Collect and dispose of refuse/waste
  • Replaces lights
  • Perform minor repairs to furniture, building, and equipment
  • Shovel snow/salt walkways during inclement weather (if needed); may also be required to maintain grounds surrounding building
  • May at times be needed to perform minor carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties as directed
  • Move and set up furniture and equipment
  • Report damage, pests, and vandalism to supervisor(s)
  • Paints interior spaces as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned (occasional custodial and janitorial tasks, including, but not limited to lifting heavy items of ~50 lbs, moving chairs/tables, etc.)

 

Qualifications

  • Must have related experience in facilities maintenance (school-site experience preferred, but not required)
  • Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprinting
  • General knowledge of building cleaning, cleaning materials, and methods.
  • Ability to lift and bend regularly
  • High school diploma preferred, but not required
