Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the English Language Development program in collaboration with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to meet student achievement targets
  • Serve as a member of the Enrollment/Onboarding team to ensure students’ language needs are assessed, they are placed accurately, and their pathway includes an ambitious and achievable language acquisition strategy
  • Serve as the lead coordinator of the English Express Academy (EEA)
  • Serve as instructional coach and curriculum consultant for teachers in the EEA; host weekly meetings to review team goals and develop action plans
  • Oversee and complete all state and federal English Language Learner compliance needs including progress reports, WIDA screener testing, ELL files, reporting, and more
  • Oversee scholar progress assessment and advancement in the EEA and the ELD portfolio process
  • Coordinate WIDA testing, staff training, culture building, student attendance, and resource allocation
  • Develop and deliver professional development to the school community to ensure that each curriculum and classroom is providing access for English Language Learners
  • Collaborate with the Student Success Team to design and deliver events that will promote cross-cultural understanding and positive identity development amongst all students
  • Teach at least one course in the EEA
  • Serve as the liaison for external professional development partners, e.g. Confianza, DESE
  • Serve on the Instructional Leadership Team
  • Provides long-term subbing and coverage for ELD and non-ELD courses as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Deep belief in the mission of Phoenix Charter Academy Network
  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of English Language Learner teaching experience preferred; including curriculum development and assessment
  • A commitment to providing equity and access for all scholars in an educational setting
  • Experience leading or coordinating a team
  • Model strong judgement and decision-making
  • Detail-oriented with superb follow-through
  • Proven record of successfully taking initiative
  • Growth-oriented mindset: a desire to learn and grow as a professional
